Hot/cold aisles
In a data center, the hot aisle/cold aisle configuration involves aligning server racks in alternating rows with the front sides (cold aisles) facing each other and the back sides (hot aisles) facing away. This design optimizes airflow and cooling efficiency by separating the cool air intake from the hot air exhaust. Chilled air is directed through the cold aisles, where it is drawn into server intakes, while hot air is expelled into the hot aisles and removed by exhaust systems. This approach prevents the mixing of hot and cold air, enhancing cooling effectiveness and reducing energy consumption.
