Wide Area Network (WAN)
A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a network that spans large geographical areas, transmitting data among employees, customers, and partners in different locations. WANs consist of leased telecommunications lines provided by network service providers, connecting disparate sites and enabling long-distance communication. WANs are distinct from Local Area Networks (LANs) and Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), serving as the backbone for an organization's distributed network infrastructure.
